The Painters Collection

The Painters Collection is the marriage of Lam Lighting’s signature, natural, raw porcelain to hand blown glass shades.

Realised in a combination of simple pendants, multi pendants and wall lights. They proved instant classics upon their release in February 2021 with the beautiful luminance of the porcelain reflector and the elegance of the crystal clear glass setting them among the best sellers.

Purity of materials, simplicity in form. This collection is designed from the hearts of artists and embodies so much of Lam Lighting’s approach and design philosophy that is not easily expressed in words, so we have created a film to try to convey the essence. We are delighted to present:

‘With An Artist’s Heart’ is a short film that imagines a modern-day Maria Bicknell working in Lam Lighting’s Design Studio on new designs. Maria was eventually to become John Constable’s wife, after a seven-year secret courtship due to the opposition of Maria’s wealthy family (Constable was a struggling artist). Suddenly struck by inspiration, we follow Maria into a half-memory, half-dream-like state, where she encounters the master himself, in a dream-scape of Constable Country.

About two months before their marriage, Constable wrote to Maria from Suffolk; ‘I would not be without your portrait for the world. The sight of it soon calms my spirit under all trouble’.

Although not a literal translation of what inspired Lam Lighting’s signature ‘Painter’s Collection’, it is, in the words of our designers; “A more authentic reflection of Lam Lighting’s poetic approach”
